Meet Our Optometrists

Dr. Yan Ling Liang

Warden Optometry Dr. Yan Ling Liang started wearing glasses at age 11 while living in Guangzhou, China. However, her love of optometry didn’t begin until she started looking for contact lenses while living in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Liang studied Biomedical Science and Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. After graduation, she practiced Optometry in Edmonton, Alberta, and Thornhill, Ontario, before starting her own practice right here in Markham in 2012.

Dr. Liang is caring for both adults and children in the local community, providing emergency care, comprehensive eye care and myopia control for children.

Dr. Liang’s passion for children’s vision care led her to become an Eye See… Eye Learn® program rovider, and ambassador for Ontario Association of Optometrist, as well as speaking on children’s vision for Chinese Family Services.

Her concern for a child with crossed eyes (strabismus), led her to continuing her optometry training to become a neuro-developmental Optometrist.

She is now able to coach children and adults through vision thearpy to improve their eye-brain development and coordination. This can help them with myopia control, improve gaze fixation, eye teaming, visual thinking, and visual memory for sports vision, post-concussion treatment, crossed eye, lazy eyes, ADD, ADHD and learning related vision disorders.

Dr. Liang is a member of good standing with the Ontario Association of Optometrists (where she was also a former board director) and Canadian Association of Optometrists. Dr. Liang had also spent time as a clinical assessor for optometry school graduates, licensing optometrists to practice in Canada.

Dr. Liang volunteers with Ontario Association of Optometrist, Toronto Trillium Lions Club, Yorkville Exotic Cars and WWF Canada. Dr. Liang is a firm believer that resident and corporate involvement both build up strength and wellness of the local community.

She is not only a mentor for new gradudates from Optometry schools, she is also a mentor for Optician co-op students from Georgian College and Seneca College.

Dr. Liang is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
